My friend asked so I'll post it here as well. I'm no expert at it so I can not really give out any tips, having good drawing skills, building fanbases are the very basic, those take times and social skills to do and it's not like I have either of them anyway so I'm not talking about that here.
If you think your art is good enough, and wanting to make some quick bucks, but don't know where to start, here're some links I think maybe useful:
DA's forum jobs offer:forum.deviantart.com/jobs/offe…Lots of people don't really care about the forum so they don't know about this, so I will just put it here anyway.
Reddit #hungryartists:www.reddit.com/r/HungryArtists…Just another jobs offer, job services forum with all kind of works relate to arts on Reddit.
Lemmasoft Visual Novel:lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/They have a sub forum for hiring too, but may be a lot of you have no idea about Visual Novel yet ( or may be using Dating Sims will be easier to imagine ), if so that is their main forum, do some research first. There are 4 main jobs for artist there:
-Sprites: Character with no background, with variation of expression, clothes, poses.. etc..
-Backgrounds: Backgrounds with variation of time, light, details
-User Interface: Button, bar etc...
-CG: Something like cutscenes, when you want to show the player a visual look of a certain scene, but it is a still image in Visual novel case.
Background artists are the most wanted there so if you are into drawing background, give it a try.
Webtoons:www.webtoons.com/en/terms ( click to
Creator support policy and read it )
If you enjoying making comics, even if it's just a gag comic, 4 panels, onepage per chapter comics... etc.. try webtoons, they have million of readers, and if your comic meets their qualification, you can get upto 1000$ per month, there are only 300 slots for everyone tho.
*Notice that webtoons has 2 categories:
Discover - anyone can post their comics here, no pressure, no payment, get support if meet qualification as mentioned above.
Feature - comics made by webtoons offical artists, lots of them was and being picked from Discover category, if the staffs interested in your comic, they will contact you, you will have payment, and will need to sign some kind of agreements/contracts as well.
**Same kind of site,
Tapas seems to have a earning system too, but not very much or so I hear, but their policy is less strict than webtoons, like, they accept mature contents, I don't have time to do research on this one yet, but just in case you are interested, I will just put it here
tapas.io/ Selling designs:www.shirtpunch.com/ spreadshirt.comIf you enjoy making designs, logos, fanarts, abstract, typography... etc.. you can try these kind of sites, to make it short, upload your drawings/designs on these sites, choose the products ( tshirt, mugs, bags, canvas.. ) that you want to put it on, the site will make a mockup of it and list it on their site, print and ship if any of them sell, you will get money from each of it. There're a lot of these kind of site out there, but also very competitive since a lot of people doing it, it's hard to get people to see your works, mostly you will need to do the adverstiment yourself, unless you lucky and get feature by the sites, this work better if you already have a fanbase, or has some online marketing skill.
Merch by Amazon is a very good place too, it's a big market, thing is, it's hard to get a Merch account, but if you aiming for a longterm plan, it worth a try.
Envato:market.envato.comNot really relate to art, more like a place for multimedia graphic designer, selling sites template, photoshop actions, mockup bases, audio, video.... all kind of creative products you can think of.
Check that menu with weird names at the top of the site, and find out what kind of stuffs people is selling.
