(よさこい) is a unique style of dance that originated in Japan and that is performed at festivals and events all over the country. There are a lot of young people in my country interested in this style of dance and create teams for themself, and perform at Japan/Anime/Manga festivals, the Vietnam Yosakoi community is growing bigger every year.
This year, at the Japan-Vietnam Cultural Exchange, there was a Yosakoi Tournament, and Hanoi Sennen Yosakoi team did a fantastic performance, and what more, they used "Nhat Binh" as their uniform ( instead of the the usual Happi or Yukata ). It's a Vietnamese traditional clothes, which was used as princess and queen normal wear in Nguyen dynasty (1802–1945), it's beautiful but no one use it anymore after that, so most of the Vietnamese these days don't know about it, unless they look into history. But a lot of young history groups are trying to make "Nhat Binh" and also all kind of clothes and cultures in the Vietnam history alive again ! This Yosakoi performance, along with their uniform is making a big hit to the public right now. This is my fanart of them.
This one I drew base on the real Nhat Binh references and change the Naruko ( which help making sound effect ) to a paper fan, since I kind of want to make it pure Vietnam. But in the performance, they modified their uniform due to big movements of the dance style, here's the version close to their actual uniform sta.sh/01mocej488xd
